How to play
Farkle takes about a minute to learn. These are the numbers your table is set up for right now.
The idea
Six dice. On your turn you keep rolling and piling up points, and at any moment you can bank them — or push your luck for more. Roll nothing that scores and you farkle: the whole pile goes, and it’s the next player’s turn.
First past 10,000 wins.
A turn, step by step
- 1Roll all six dice.
- 2Set aside at least one die or combination that scores. Those points go into your pot.
- 3Now choose: bank the pot and pass, or roll whatever dice are left and try for more.
- 4Set all six aside and you pick all six back up — hot dice — with the pot carried over.
- 5Roll nothing that scores and you farkle. The pot is gone.
What scores on its own
- A single 1100
- A single 550
Only 1s and 5s are worth anything by themselves. A lone 2, 3, 4 or 6 scores nothing — it needs company.
Three of a kind
- Three 1s1,000
- Three 2s200
- Three 3s300
- Three 4s400
- Three 5s500
- Three 6s600
More than three
- Four of a kind — 2× the three-of-a-kind value (shown: 2s)400
- Five of a kind — 3×600
- Six of a kind — 4×800
- Six 1s4,000
The big six-dice combinations
- A straight — one through six3,000
- Three pairs — any six dice that pair up1,500
- Two triplets2,500
You always get whichever reading pays the most. The app works that out for you and highlights the best keep.
Farkling
Three farkles in a row costs you 1,000 off your total.
Getting on the board & winning
Your first bank has to be at least 500 in a single turn. Bank less than that and it doesn’t count — the app warns you before you do.
When someone passes 10,000, everyone else gets one last turn to beat them — last licks. Highest total then wins.
Real dice or not
Both work, in the same game. Whoever has dice in front of them rolls for real and taps what came up — or just types the points if they’d rather do their own maths. Whoever hasn’t taps to roll in the app. Same odds either way.
